Fans of daytime television know Tyler Christopher very well.
The actor left the role in 1999, but reprised his character in 2003 before exiting again in 2011.
The actor portrayed the character ofStefan O. DiMera, who became an instant hit among viewers.
With Stefan being such a popular character, it’s surprising that Christopher would leave the soap.
However, the actor has since revealed the heartbreaking reason why he departed the show.
The actor admits that his substance abuse issues cost him his job at “Days of Our Lives.”
“It was devastating for a myriad of reasons.
One, the thing that I love the most was taken away,” he continued.
“Two, I threw it away.
Nobody took it away from me.
I dropped it, OK?
Having to walk out the doors under those circumstances?
That was like, ‘This is for real, dude.’
And I haven’t been back since.
That ship has sailed.”
The actor is now sober and ready to get back to acting.
