Is the Mediterranean Diet for you?
Maybe the year after that everyone will be juicing for every meal?
And the best among them, according toU.S.

News & World Report, is the Mediterranean Diet.
So what’s the deal?
Can you really drink wine and lose weight?

Read on to find out why folks in the Mediterranean seem to have food all figured out.
That means you probably shouldn’t rely on burgers and fast food as your primary sources of nutrients.
Additionally, Fine cites some specific foods that should be your primary sources of both carbs and protein.

So there clearly are a ton of food options!
It’s also super important to exercise, according to theMayo Clinic.
Bring on the salmon, y’all!

That doesn’t mean all red meat is the enemy, though.
That’s some good news!
And butter, of course, is high insaturated fat.

So what does Weisenberger recommend when it comes to fats and cooking tips?
“Limit solid fats like butter and coconut oil.
Instead use olive oil or canola oil or other liquid oils,” she noted.

Bring on foods with healthy fat!
Fat is the enemy, right?
Fat is an essential macronutrient promoting satiety and satisfaction at meals."

So there’s no need to obsess about cutting it out of your diet thank goodness!
That’s not all fat does, either.
That’s a lot!

So what kind of delicious, fatty foods can you eat if following the Mediterranean Diet?
Just be mindful of your portion sizes!
And that comes with a healthy advantage, too.

Sounds like a win-win!
But the Mediterranean Diet doesn’t strictly forbid it as long as you make healthy choices.
As RDN Jill Weisenberger toldThe List, “Fruit is a more common dessert than baked goods.

Top off your meal withfresh or dried fruitsinstead of cookies, cakes and pastries.”
So why reach for fruit, especially in an era whereketo dietsseem to be all the rage?
“Fruits are nutrient-dense and relatively low in calories,” Weisenberger continued.

Weisenberger also added that these compounds work with other nutrients to get to help keep you healthy.
Additionally, they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, so you know fruit is your friend!
Also, you don’t have to ditch the alcohol cheers to that!

But there are some parameters to follow, of course.
“A glass of wine complements a meal.
Drinking is not the event.”

And contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to be red wine that you drink.
But, if you do, a little bit is just fine.
That’s right: you’ll lose weight!

That beat out those on a low-fat diet, who only lost between 6 and 11 pounds.
Of course, just eating foods included in the plan won’t magically melt the inches off.
But that’s not all!

Who wouldn’t want to get healthier with a plate of seared scallops and a glass of Merlot?
That’s great news for our diabetic friends!
Can it really prevent cancer?
Fewer things are scarier than the big C word: cancer.
It’s pretty amazing to think that your diet can be such an effective weapon against disease!
So what’s the rig at work here?
While it sounds a little bit like magic, it’s actually simpler than you might think.
So even though no one is immune from cancer, some prevention is possible.
For one, according to a study inMolecular Psychiatry, adopting these habits can help ward off depression.
But wait there’s more!
Pass the Greek salad and lentil soup, c’mon!
Even though it’s a natural occurrence, we don’t think that sounds especially pleasant.
